This research focuses on understanding cell wall regulators’ role in maintaining the balance between root growth and defense responses when vascular pathogens and non-pathogenic fungi infect plants. Utilizing cutting-edge molecular, biochemical, and live imaging techniques, our study encompasses the model plant Arabidopsis and crops like tomato. Scholarship DescriptionSuccessful candidates will be part of a dynamic research environment and work under the guidance of Dr. Clara Sénchez-Rodrigues in the “Cell Biology of Plant Resilience” Lab. This three-year position, which includes a probationary period, may extend for an additional year. The scholarship is financially supported by the European Research Council through the ERC Consolidator grant “DYNWALL. ” The position is expected to commence on 1st February 2024, or upon agreement. Salary will be in accordance with the regulations of the CSIC (Spanish Research Council). Benefits, such as coverage under the Spanish Social Security system for sickness, maternity/paternity leaves, workplace injuries, unemployment, and retirement, are included. EligibilityApplicants should possess practical and theoretical knowledge in plant molecular biology and/or biochemistry. While prior experience in plant stress responses, confocal imaging, or working with Arabidopsis and tomato is advantageous, it is not mandatory. We are looking for highly self-motivated, scientifically curious individuals with strong communication and analytical skills. Collaborative teamwork is a key aspect of our research environment.
