Mercury Systems is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer

MISSION
Mercury Mission Systems International (MMSI) is an aerospace company that develops and manufactures computer systems for modern aircraft.
Our safety certifiable ROCK computer product line is designed for airborne systems (such as pilot assistance, flight management and control, and on-board video distribution) and ground applications (such as satellite navigation system ground stations).
We are looking for an experienced FPGA designer to join our international department of avionics engineers.
POSITION SUMMARY
As part of the hardware design team, you will create safety-oriented FPGA designs and IP cores for avionics computers. Activities will include:
- Implement FPGA IP: RTL design, synthesis, place & route with STA.
- Participate and contribute in design reviews.
- Bring-up FPGA designs in simulation and physical tests.
- Create FPGA related technical specifications and documentation.
- Specify scalable and re-useable IP cores for avionics communications protocols and video processing.
A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of FPGA design and computer architecture. You have exposure to common digital interfaces such as AXI4, Ethernet and PCIe, and are capable of being an expert in avionics communications protocols (e. g. ARINC-429, ARINC-818, STD-MIL-1553). Prior experience with image or video processing using chips and/or FPGAs is highly desirable for this role.
Experience in capturing and validating design requirements by following a rigorous certification standard such as RTCA DO-254 will be considered a plus.
With strong communication skills, you will thrive in our multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating with PCB engineers, software developers and systems architects to deliver practical and pragmatic technical solutions for our clients’ timescales.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 5 years of FPGA or digital ASIC development.
- Relevant experience in digital design on FPGA or ASIC.
- Excellent knowledge of VHDL (SystemVerilog desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in bring-up tests, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Strong experience with Xilinx and MicroSemi FPGA platforms.
- Experience in writing clear technical documentation in English.
- Experience in FPGA development following DO-254 or equivalent safety standard is an asset.
- Experience in scripting: e. g. TCL, Python, Lua is a plus.
- Knowledge of advanced verification methodologies (UVM) is a plus.
- Proficiency in English, French is a plus.
- Flexible, reliable, responsible, and customer-oriented.
