Could you be the full-time R&D Engineer for test benches in Barcelona we’re looking for?
Your future role
You'll propose, develop, and execute brake test benches for new and existing trains; integrating those systems in Alstom’s Cloud Services and monitoring systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, project management), guaranteeing together with suppliers and integrators the performance of brake test benches (sizing calculations, equipment choice) and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of:
- Brakes documentation and customer requirements analysis
- Specification generation
- Test protocol generation to be performed by the test bench
- Technical discussion with suppliers
- Suppliers follow-up
- Support on troubleshooting
- Functional validation of the test bench
- Support on test bench CE certification and generation of the required documentation
- Test bench start-up and training to be provided on customer site
- Monitoring and collaboration in already-developed R&D programs
- Constant technological vision and knowledge of competitors
- Design for Quality milestones and progress follow-up (manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and warranty)
- Proposes and drives improvement action plans
- Guarantees Return of Experience of the deployments to new projects and tenders
- Disseminates the results of the program within the different stakeholders of the company (Operations, Regions)
- Proposes new R&D initiatives, gathering ideas from inside and outside of the company
- Control of the test procedure and the mechanical elements on the test bench
- Definition of the architecture to perform the testing of the braking system
- Roadmap on product development
- CE certification process
- Proper execution of validation plans

- Electromechanical engineer
- Master of expertise desirable
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
- Knowledge & experience on hydraulic & pneumatic systems
- Knowledge & experience on CE certification
- Knowledge of methodology of Testing and/or validation of tests
- Knowledge of automation (desirable)
- Technical knowledge of railway brake systems
- Knowledge of certification process (CE) and railway standards
- English: C1
- Spanish: C1
- French: Desirable
- Travel: Between 10-20% of the time depending on the developments, will require international travel of certain duration for validations and training purposes
