Details of the role and how it fits into the team
The candidate has to have very good technical skills & leadership in order to oversee the technical aspects of a delivery team by making software engineering and design decisions, guiding team members in technical matters, and supervising system modifications in response to business needs. To meet the requirements of the business, the candidate will actively participate in the technical design and architecture design of the application or its components, propose appropriate solutions to use, and promote re-usability of existing components while working in a collaborative environment.
The candidate should have deep knowledge of systems and applications under their control, manage the changes, and collaborate in the technical and architectural design, analysis, and implementation of approved projects.
A Tech Lead can be considered a leader, developer, and technical reference all in one, which defines their essential skill set:
- As a leader: supervise team members, delegate tasks, issue feedback, evaluate risks, and resolve conflicts.
- As a developer: use programming tools and existing frameworks, apply defined design patterns and best practices, and perform automated testing.
- As a technical reference: perform technical assessments, oversee development lifecycles and release management, and ensure product quality and improvement.
Your key responsibilities
- Establishing initiative specifications and technical direction.
- Fostering the use of existing frameworks, technical standards, and procedures (certified delivery).
- Overseeing software quality and system modifications.
- Guiding team members with troubleshooting technical issues.
- Guaranteeing Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) are properly considered so sustainable, scalable, and resilient products are delivered.
- Establishing a continuous improvement approach on delivered products.
- Ensuring IT Application Life Cycle standards are met in ongoing enhancements and maintenance.
- Aligning application changes with the application strategy and technology roadmap.
- Identification and management of risk and issues associated with the application.
- Setting the technical direction of a product/application, being its technical owner.
- Ensuring maximum operational availability and stability.
- Cost efficiency.
Your skills and experiences
- English and Spanish advanced required.
- Technical guidance and decision-making skills.
- Experience and solid knowledge of software engineering, systems testing, design patterns, and software architecture.
- Experience in application solutions from a technological perspective. Ability to understand key aspects of technical platforms and infrastructure, generate ideas, and create effective solutions.
- Development background and demonstrated experience as an analyst.
- Experience on analysis of existing systems from high-level architecture to application code review.
- Experience with technical documentation, architectural diagrams, components, flows, and use cases.
- Demonstrable DevOps-oriented mindset.
- Experience with testing/Quality Assurance (QA) tools.
- Solid technical knowledge and ability to understand complex business processes and workflows.
- Teamwork capacity with multidisciplinary teams.
- Leadership and communication skills.
- High commitment and results-focused.
- Ability to identify risks, resolve conflicts, and plan tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of methodologies in applications development (e. g. , Agile).
- Problem-solving, innovation, ownership, and vision.
